"Staying On The Old Paths"
Jeremiah 6:16 “Thus saith the Lord, Stand ye in the ways,
and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and
walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls.”
 |
|
Malachi 3:6
|
|
"For I am the Lord, I
change not." |
God was calling Israel to return to him, but they would not
listen. This is the sad reoccurring theme of the Old Testament;
God’s people leaving what they have been taught for a strange
god. This has not changed in our time. The church goes after
everything but Christ and his glory. It would seem that today’s
church sees it’s job as keeping our kids busy, entertaining the
adults, and making friends with the world. This is far from the
“Old Paths”.
These new methods are sure keep us running from one place
to the other, but what we really need is “rest for our souls”.
The only way for us to be at peace with God is to be serving
Him. In order to serve him we must recognize he’s in charge. The
church service must be all about him. The message must be all
about him. The music must be all about him. We can’t put our own
personal spin on a service that belongs to God. Our God is a
jealous God (EX 34:14).
At LCBC we are seeking the “old paths”. We want God to be
pleased with the fellowship we have here. We see no biblical
reason to change what has been working for centuries. We don’t
claim to be perfect or to have all the answers; just a firm
conviction that the old paths are the good way. I would love for
you to come to an experience any of our weekly services and find
rest for your soul.
Love in Christ,
Pastor Harold
